The second workshop I attended is about SMARTboard, which is a very useful tool to keep students engaged and helps create an interactive classroom atmosphere. I have never used the SMARTboard before but I have tremendous interest in using it in my future second language teaching classroom. Before the workshop, I thought that implementation of SMARTboard into classroom and teaching students how to use it may take lots of time and energy. After the workshop, I found that it is quite self-explanatory. It may be not indispensible but every classroom should get one if the school budget allows.

SMARTboard could help my future students learn second language more effectively than usual from several aspects. Firstly, the magic tool will help create an intriguing and challenging task for them to remember new words in the second language if I choose to write them down with the magic pen in ten seconds disappearing ink. Secondly, with the help of SMART Exchange, I can assess, download tons of student friendly lesson plans and resources that I may incorporate in my classroom while the web link function of SMARTboard will also make teaching contents more enriched and informative. The links to external documents and web pages will provide students abundant reference resources to navigate and explore therefore they will develop more learning strategies than merely reading a book. Thirdly incorporating the SMARTboard to my future class will also get students involved with many interactive activities. For example, its letter and shape recognition feature will assist them to perform better in spelling puzzle activities and the language games on the SMARTboard will help them learn sentence construction in a much more easier and stress-less way.
